After you have completed your 15-week course in CPA, you will want to become a *member of the CPA Alumni Association (CPAAA). The CPAAA helps direct alumni into various types of organizations such as Community on Patrol (COP) and Seniors and Law Enforcement Together (SALT). Like others, you may only wish to be an active member in the CPAAA to help with ongoing projects and events. However; if you are interested in furthering your CPA experience, an excellent way to do that is to join the COP or SALT. Either way, we welcome you and hope to see you at our monthly meetings.

The COP volunteers drive city vehicles into specified areas of Pembroke Pines for the purpose of patrolling for suspicious activity. These men and women are armed with police cell phones and they report all problems directly to our police dispatchers.

The SALT program is geared toward protecting seniors from fraud and scams of all kinds. Often our seniors are much too trusting and they become targets of rip-offs. SALT spends time with the senior community making them aware of current scams and how to avoid becoming a victim.

Other projects for members to the alumni association are to help our police department when they schedule public events. These events include the car club give-away, bike rodeos, VIN etching of vehicles, and assisting with DUI check points.


We look forward to each graduating class and the opportunity to meet new graduates! We are planning projects, fund raisers and events of our own throughout the year.

Our meetings are held at 7 p.m. on the THIRD TUESDAY of each month at the station. Quarterly, we have dinner meetings at local restaurants, which make our meetings fun and gives us a new atmosphere to put our thoughts together and set even higher goals.

As you will soon discover, the Citizens Police Academy will be over before you can blink your eyes and you’ll be wishing you could do it again!
